Blinds Measuring Guide
Blinds can sit either inside or outside a window recess. It’s important to decide which you want before taking your measurements.
Please supply your measurements:
- to the nearest mm for roller blinds
- in cm for roman blinds.
Please note: Hand-woven check fabrics are restricted to a single width of fabric for all blinds. It is not always possible to perfectly align the design straight across the width.
Please note: For fabric roller blinds the fabric will be 3.5cm narrower than the overall width measurement given to allow for the roller mechanism.
Measure the length from the top to the bottom of the recess.
Measure the width at the top of the window recess, where the blind is to be fitted.
Measure the width at two other points of the recess, i.e. in the middle and at the bottom (see diagram 4). Record the lowest measurement of the three to ensure the blind does not snag when being lowered.
Please note: tab-headed roman blinds are not suitable for fitting inside a recess.
To obtain the length, measure from the required position above the window down to the required length.
To obtain the width, measure the width of the window and add approx. 14cm to allow sufficient overlap at each side of the window.
